Brandon: Breaking Barriers at CrossFit Fig

The Start of a New Chapter:

When Brandon Fletcher moved to town 1.5 years ago, he brought with him a desire to push his fitness further than ever before. Weighing 215 lbs, he had already begun working on his nutrition and fitness, but despite his efforts, he hit a plateau. He joined CrossFit Fig with a clear mission, to break through that wall and transform his body and fitness level.

Before CrossFit Fig:

Brandon was stuck. Despite seeing some early results, he found himself unable to progress any further. He wanted to make more aggressive improvements, not just in his fitness but also in his confidence, especially when it came to how he looked and felt.


Finding a Supportive Community:

At CrossFit Fig, Brandon quickly found more than just a place to work out, he found a community. The 5am class became his daily routine, filled with members who offered encouragement, tips, and support. But it was coaches Chad and Jess who truly made the difference. They recognized Brandon’s hunger for improvement and provided daily coaching tailored to his needs. Whether it was improving his technique, building strength, or focusing on explosiveness, they were there to help him find something to attack in every workout. Even outside of regular classes, they supported Brandon’s extra cardio, strength, and skill sessions, accelerating his progress.


Proud Achievements:

Brandon’s list of accomplishments is impressive. During a recent strength cycle, he added at least 40 pounds to all of his maxes, including deadlifts, squats, and bench presses. Skills that once seemed out of reach, like pull-ups and muscle-ups, are now part of his regular routine. He’s gone from struggling to do a single pull-up to mastering chest-to-bar pull-ups, handstand push-ups, bar muscle-ups, and even the occasional ring muscle-up. The next challenge? Handstand walks and perfecting the skills he’s already achieved.


A Transformational Mindset:

Since joining CrossFit Fig, Brandon’s outlook on what he can achieve has completely shifted. At 35, he now believes there are no limits to what he can accomplish in the gym. The barriers he once thought were unbreakable have been shattered, replaced with confidence and a determination to keep pushing his limits.


Overcoming Obstacles:

Brandon’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. Building strength quickly was a major hurdle, but with the right combination of nutrition and coaching, he’s finally seeing the progress he worked so hard for. Learning new techniques was another challenge, Brandon calls himself a “motor moron,” someone who takes longer to pick up new skills. But the coaches’ patience and perfectly timed drills have helped him overcome these obstacles faster than he ever thought possible.


Fun Fact:

Brandon is a pilot and loves flying small planes.
