Three years ago, Janelle Chambers took a leap of faith. She had always been curious about CrossFit, but it was not until a friend invited her that she decided to take the plunge. At the time, she was stressed, stuck in a cardio-only rut, and looking for something that would challenge her in a new way.
Finding Her Place
From her very first class, Janelle knew she had found something special. She never felt judged at CrossFit Fig. The coaches met her where she was, and the community welcomed her with open arms. That sense of belonging is what kept her coming back, day after day, week after week.
Proving Herself
One of Janelle's proudest moments came during the CrossFit Open, when she completed 14 chest-to-bar pull-ups. For someone who started from scratch, that accomplishment was a testament to the power of consistency and hard work. It was proof that she could do things she never thought possible.
A Complete Lifestyle Change
CrossFit Fig did not just change Janelle's workouts. It changed her entire lifestyle. She overhauled her nutrition, prioritized recovery, and adopted a mindset of continuous improvement. The gym became the foundation for every other positive change in her life.
The Secret
When asked about the secret to her success, Janelle does not hesitate: consistency. Not perfection. Not intensity. Just showing up, day after day, and doing the work. That is the formula that has transformed her body, her mind, and her life.
Outside the Gym
Janelle holds a degree in sign language interpreting, bringing the same dedication to communication and connection that she brings to her training. Her favorite movement is rowing, and she can often be found grinding out meters on the rower long after the class is over.
Her advice to anyone thinking about starting CrossFit? JUST SHOW UP CONSISTENTLY. That is it. The rest will take care of itself.
